Medical Services
The well-being of our Residents is our priority
The team at White Lodge & St Helens Care Home has had to adapt to changes over the years in care of the elderly and how it has evolved. We pride ourselves on the high standards of care we can deliver to our residents and the facilities we provide.
GP Information
Our GP conducts regular rounds every Tuesday morning, ensuring a consistent presence and building rapport with staff and residents. All residents are registered with the same GP surgery, a strategic move that streamlines our healthcare procedures and ensures a consistent and coordinated approach to resident care.
Our Nourish Software package is linked to GP Connect, enabling trained staff to view residents’ medical notes for the last 12 months concerning medications, general repeat prescriptions, and any changes to dosages that may not have been communicated to us.
Senior staff members have NHS e-mail accounts, ensuring efficient and prompt communication with the doctor's surgery, Hospital wards and departments.
Our local surgery, where all residents are registered, has an allocated pharmacist who conducts regular reviews of resident’s medications, providing an additional layer of safety and thoroughness to our healthcare procedures.
District Nurse Team
We maintain a close working relationship with the District Nurse Team, who administer insulin daily to our diabetic residents and checks their blood sugars. They also provide us with dressings every Tuesday and Friday.
We also have good relationships with other professional bodies such as Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, the Community Mental Health Team, and the Dols Team.
Trusted Assessor
We are participating in a new pilot program with a trusted assessor from the Royal Bournemouth and Poole General Hospital. This collaboration aims to provide comprehensive support to our care home when a resident is admitted to either hospital.
The assessor plays a significant role in reassessing care needs when our resident is ready for discharge back to us. They are instrumental in facilitating the resident's smooth return home and provide us with written assessments to ensure a seamless transition.
We also work very closely with the following services:
